Revise: Hydrogen Ion Concentration and pHHydrogen ion concentration means the amount of these ions per unit volume of solution. Comparing equal volumes helps make this idea concrete: the solution containing more hydrogen ions has the higher hydrogen ion concentration.

Link a falling pH to an increasing hydrogen ion concentration, and a rising pH to a decreasing hydrogen ion concentration.
Always state which solution has the greater hydrogen ion concentration: it is the one with the lower pH.
Apply the rule to hydrogen ion concentration, not simply to the total number of ions or the concentration of acid molecules.
