Revise: FossilsTogether, known fossils form the fossil record. They give scientists evidence about organisms that lived long before humans could observe them. However, most dead organisms decay without becoming fossils, so this record is not a complete account of past life.
Explain gaps in the early fossil record using both soft-bodied organisms leaving few traces and geological activity destroying traces that did form.
