Circuit diagram

A circuit diagram represents electrical components with standard symbols and the connecting wires with lines. It shows how the components are connected, rather than what the equipment looks like or where it sits on a bench. A lamp drawn at the top of a diagram could physically be anywhere: its connections are what matter.
