Revise: Calculating accelerationThe family-car calculation provides a useful reference: an average acceleration of roughly 2–3 m/s² is plausible for a car accelerating from rest. For comparison, an object falling freely near the Earth's surface accelerates at about 10 m/s². These are useful scales for judging an estimate, not fixed accelerations for every car or every falling object.
