Paper 5
Revise: Spartan Social Structure and the AgogeSparta was a Greek city-state in Laconia, in the south-eastern Peloponnese. Its privileged male citizens, called Spartiates, were expected to make training and service to the community central to their lives. Preparing soldiers was therefore not simply something the army did: it shaped education, daily routines and relationships between social groups.
- Revise: The Spartan Command Structure and Non-Citizen Roles
A full male citizen of Sparta, belonging to the privileged group whose lives centred on military training, service and politics.
