Revise: RomeNessus is a centaur, a creature combining a human upper body with a horse’s body and legs. Strong and familiar with the river’s fords, he offers to carry Deianira to the far bank while Hercules swims. She is pale with fear, frightened both of the river and of Nessus.
Keep the authors and episodes distinct: Virgil describes Cacus; Ovid describes Achelous, Nessus and Hercules’ death.
