Ideogram

Linear B uses syllabic signs, which represent units of speech such as ‘ti’ or ‘po’, alongside ideograms, which represent items such as animals or vessels. Numbers allow quantities to be recorded. This combination suited administration: an entry could identify a person or place, indicate the kind of goods involved and record how many there were.
