Paper 5
Revise: Glory, Honour and ComradeshipGlory is the fame gained through exceptional achievements; honour concerns respect and conduct worthy of respect; shame is disgrace, or the fear of being judged unworthy. These values overlap, but they are not identical. A warrior may win glory by defeating an enemy while behaving in a way that readers find dishonourable.
- Revise: Greek Literary Sources on Warfare: Homer and Tyrtaeus
Reputation won through notable deeds and preserved in the memory or speech of others; Homeric warriors seek it especially through success in battle.
