Revise: The chariot racesThe four principal racing factions were the Blues, Greens, Reds and Whites. Their colours identified competitors and gave spectators a simple, visible focus for loyalty. A faction was not just a group of drivers: it was a professional organisation supplying horses, trainers, stable managers, blacksmiths, doctors and assistants, as well as charioteers.
