Revise: Burial customs and structuresIn chamber tombs, bodies were usually laid on their backs on the chamber floor, without a fixed direction. Objects could be placed nearby as grave goods. These offerings honoured the deceased and may suggest continuing concern for them after death, although they cannot establish exactly what people believed about an afterlife.
