Amber

Amber is fossilised tree resin, not a metal or manufactured glass. Tests on amber from Mycenaean shaft graves indicate that much of it originated in the Baltic region. Its presence in Greece therefore reveals long-distance exchange, although it does not mean that Mycenaean craftspeople travelled directly to the Baltic themselves.
