Used by OCR
Paper 1
Revise: RomeAeneas established the ancestors of the Roman people in Italy; Romulus later founded the city of Rome. Alba Longa and its royal family provide the link between them. In this context, the ‘Roman race’ means the people and their ancestry, rather than a modern racial category.
Distinguish the founders: Aeneas founded Lavinium, Ascanius founded Alba Longa, and Romulus founded Rome.
Explain significance through specific details: Venus gives Aeneas divine ancestry, Mars connects the twins with warfare, and the Alban kings connect Rome with its Trojan past.
