Revise: Selecting and Organising KnowledgeAn argument is a claim supported by reasons and evidence. A claim states what you think; a reason explains why; evidence gives the reader grounds for accepting it. Your own argument is independent when you decide what the evidence supports, rather than simply repeating someone else’s opinion.
In an extended argument, explain how each example supports or challenges the claim. Naming an event alone does not explain its significance.
Address a strong opposing argument and explain your response to it; do not dismiss it merely because you disagree.
