Revise: Properties and Uses of NanoparticlesSome sunscreens contain nanoparticles of zinc oxide or titanium oxide. These substances help stop ultraviolet (UV) radiation reaching the skin by absorbing or scattering it. Their tiny particle size allows many particles to be distributed through a layer of sunscreen, where incoming UV can encounter them.
Link a use to the property that enables it: a large surface area to volume ratio matters when a process occurs at a surface; sunscreen nanoparticles absorb or scatter UV light.
Do not claim that surface area to volume ratio alone explains how sunscreen blocks UV.
