How strongly a metal opposes being oxidised; a metal with greater resistance is less easily oxidised.

Revise: Resistance to OxidationMetals near the top lose electrons and become positive ions more readily. They are more reactive, are oxidised more easily and have less resistance to oxidation. Metals near the bottom lose electrons less readily.
Do not confuse oxidation with resistance to oxidation. A metal that is easily oxidised has low resistance to oxidation.
