The power of ten that describes the approximate scale of a value.
Revise: Sustainability and Finite ResourcesAn order of magnitude is the approximate power of ten describing a value’s scale. A difference of one order of magnitude represents a factor of 10; two orders represent a factor of 100. Comparing exponents makes very large resource figures easier to interpret.
