Heat-resistant

Poly(tetrafluoroethene), or PTFE, has an unusual combination of properties. It is non-stick, heat-resistant and very chemically unreactive. These properties make it suitable as a coating on non-stick cooking pans: food does not adhere readily, and the coating can tolerate the conditions of cooking without reacting easily.
