Revise: Naming organic compoundsIn a fully displayed formula, each letter is an atom and each line is a covalent bond. Carbon makes four bonds, hydrogen one and oxygen two. Two lines between the same pair of atoms show a double bond.
A fully displayed formula shows every atom and every bond. A condensed formula such as CH₃CH₂OH can help you plan a drawing, but is not the finished answer when a fully displayed formula is requested.
