Revise: Carboxylic Acid PropertiesA carboxylic acid can react with an alcohol to form an ester and water. This reaction is called esterification. The mixture is usually warmed with an acid catalyst, such as concentrated sulfuric acid.
AQA does not expect balanced chemical equations for carboxylic acid reactions. The only ester name you need to know is ethyl ethanoate.
