Specification 3.1, 3.8 · Paper 1
The separation of an acid into ions when it dissolves in water.
Define strength by the degree of dissociation, not by how corrosive an acid seems or by how much acid is present.
Use a single arrow for complete dissociation and a reversible arrow for partial dissociation.
Do not confuse the pairs: strong/weak describes dissociation, whereas concentrated/dilute describes the amount of dissolved acid per unit volume.
