Revise: Alcohol Functional GroupAlcohols can be converted into alkenes by dehydration. The prefix de- indicates removal, so dehydration means removing the elements of water, H₂O, from a molecule.
For a dehydration equation, check that the alkene has the same number of carbon atoms as the alcohol and that exactly H₂O has been removed.
