Revise: Use of modelsA prediction is conditional: it is what the model says should happen if its assumptions, rules and input data are suitable. Agreement with observations increases confidence that the model is useful in that situation, but does not prove that it is a perfect account of reality. Disagreement may reveal poor data, an incorrect rule, a missing factor or use of the model beyond its valid range.
