Paper 1
Revise: Staff Development RoutesThree important development routes are vocational qualifications, academic qualifications and apprenticeships. These are not completely separate pathways: an apprenticeship may include a qualification, and a person can combine vocational and academic study.
Distinguish the routes by their focus: vocational qualifications are work-related, academic qualifications are subject-based, and apprenticeships combine paid employment with structured training.
When applying an answer to a business, explain how the proposed qualification or apprenticeship fits the employee’s role. Simply naming the business is not enough.
