Revise: Neurones and SynapsesA sensory receptor is a specialised cell, or group of cells, that detects a particular kind of stimulus. Its specialised structure makes it sensitive to that stimulus: light-sensitive receptor cells occur in the retina, while receptors in the skin can detect changes such as temperature. When stimulated, receptors initiate electrical impulses in a sensory neurone.
