Plasticity

The nervous system has some plasticity: undamaged regions and connections can sometimes reorganise and take over part of a lost function. Rehabilitation can help a person make use of this capacity. However, reorganisation is not the same as restoring every destroyed cell, and recovery may be incomplete.
