Revise: Evaluating Risks and BenefitsA perceived risk is how large that risk seems to a person. The two can differ: people may overestimate the risk of something unfamiliar, or of harm whose effects are invisible or long-term. A calculated risk describes a pattern in a group; it does not tell us with certainty what will happen to one individual.
