Revise: Human Interactions in EcosystemsA non-indigenous species is one introduced outside its natural range, either deliberately or accidentally. A deliberate introduction might aim to control a pest, which could be useful to people. But once established, the introduced species may compete with native species for food or space, prey on them, or bring diseases to which they are vulnerable.
