Revise: Embryonic vs adult stem cellsAdult stem cells generally have a more restricted developmental potential. They are usually multipotent, meaning that they can produce a limited range of related cell types associated with their tissue. For example, stem cells in human bone marrow can divide and differentiate to form blood cells, including red blood cells and types of white blood cell, but they do not normally form unrelated cells such as nerve cells.
