Herbicide

Herbicide-tolerant crops survive a particular herbicide. A farmer can use that herbicide to kill competing weeds without killing the crop, which may make weed control easier and improve yield. This is not the same as insect resistance: herbicide tolerance may make herbicide use more convenient, while insect resistance may reduce insecticide use.
