Revise: Heart and Circulatory SystemThe heart pumps blood through vessels to make this transport possible. Human circulation is double: blood travels through a loop between heart and lungs, then a loop between heart and the rest of the body. It passes through the heart twice during one complete journey.

Revise: Human circulatory systemThe heart creates pressure that drives it through the vessels, while valves in the system help maintain one-way flow.
Name a blood vessel by the direction blood travels relative to the heart, not by whether the blood contains much oxygen. The pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood; the pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood.
You need to understand that heart valves prevent backflow, but AQA does not require their individual names.
Arteries carry blood away from the heart and veins carry blood towards it. Do not identify them by oxygen content: the pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood and the pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood.
