Revise: Plant DiseasesThe pathogen and the symptom are not the same thing: a virus, fungus or bacterium is a cause, whereas mottled leaves or swollen tissue are effects of infection.
Name the pathogen type precisely: rose black spot is caused by a fungus, not a bacterium or virus.
Do not say that every bacterium, fungus or protist causes disease; many are harmless or beneficial.
Link each disease to the correct type of pathogen: Chalara ash dieback is caused by a fungus; malaria is caused by a protist.
