Environmental gradient

This core practical investigates the relationship between organisms and their environment. It uses a belt transect to sample organisms across an environmental gradient—for example, from deep shade beneath a tree to unshaded ground—and measures an abiotic factor at the same positions. Matching the biological and environmental measurements makes it possible to look for an association between them.
