Case study

A case study follows an individual, or occasionally a small group, in considerable detail. Researchers might compare the location of brain damage shown by a scan with changes in speech, movement, memory or personality. If several people with damage in a similar region show a similar change in function, this supports the conclusion that the region contributes to that function.
