Question 5: the specialist writing question
Answering Section C
What you need to know
How Question 5 works: 15 marks (5 for knowledge of film and 10 for analysis) in about 25 minutes, on the independent film and its specialist writing, referring to at least one key sequence.
Questions set out as Eduqas sets them: your reaction to the specialist writing, and the strengths and weaknesses of what it says about the film.
Using the one option your school chose (A, B or C) and naming it at the start, explaining one or two of its ideas, and giving a reasoned view of your own supported by a key sequence; why mixing writers and learnt-by-heart answers score poorly.
Weaker and stronger answers side by side, with the band and mark an examiner would give, and why.
Worked answers with their marks, and practice questions to try, each headed 'Practice question' with its marks.
Quote only short lines of dialogue you're sure of, a few words at a time, and base every point on what happens in the finished film.
