Paper 2 Questions 1 and 3: finding information
Paper 2 reading questions
What you need to know
The two 1-mark AO1 questions: Question 1 asks for one thing from given lines of Text 1, and Question 3 for one thing a reprinted extract from Text 2 suggests.
Answering from the right text and lines, briefly, and why Question 3 needs an inference in your own words or a quotation that answers the question.
The worked example uses two linked texts about surviving extreme cold, both printed in the lesson: Text 1 from Ernest Shackleton's account of his Antarctic expedition, 'South' (1919), and Text 2 from Jack London's short story 'To Build a Fire' (1908).
Answers that would and would not earn the marks, and why.
