Paper 1 Questions 7 and 8: transactional writing
Paper 1 writing
What you need to know
The 40-mark writing task: a choice of two tasks, each naming a form and an audience. Question 7 prints the opening of a student's response for you to continue, and Question 8 gives three bullet points to cover.
Continuing a started response in the same voice and line of thought without repeating it, and covering each bullet point while adding ideas of your own.
How it is marked: 24 marks for AO5 (communication and organisation) and 16 for AO6 (vocabulary, sentences, spelling and punctuation), and how to plan and write within Section B's 45 minutes.
A weaker and a stronger response to one task side by side, with the level and mark an examiner would give each for AO5 and AO6, and why.
The tasks follow on, by theme, from the two texts about exercise and getting fit used in the reading lessons.
How much to write in the time allowed: a complete, well-developed piece with a few minutes left to check it, and why extra length only helps when the quality holds.
