His Dark Materials, Series 2, Episode 1, 'The City of Magpies' (2020): the opening episode of the second series of a fantasy drama adapted from Philip Pullman's novels, following Lyra and Will across worlds, with much of it set in a mysterious city.
Media language: camerawork, editing, sound, CGI and mise-en-scène, the conventions of fantasy drama and its mix of genres, and the episode's narrative, enigmas and character types, applying the narrative ideas from earlier lessons.
Representation: gender, age and ethnicity, young protagonists and powerful adults, and how the series represents authority and other worlds.
