Atomic Scale and Size
What you need to know
Recall the typical order of magnitude for the size of atoms, understanding they have a radius of approximately 0.1 nanometers.
Recall that the radius of small molecules, such as methane, is roughly 0.5 nanometers.
Interpret and calculate using numbers expressed in standard form to describe atomic scales.
Use standard International System (SI) units and appropriate prefixes, such as nano, in scientific measurements.
Estimate the size of atoms and molecules by analyzing scale diagrams.
