Internal Energy
What you need to know
Define internal energy as the total kinetic and potential energy of all the particles (atoms and molecules) stored inside a system.
Explain how heating changes the energy stored within a system by increasing the energy of its constituent particles.
Understand that increasing the internal energy of a system either raises its temperature or induces a change of state.
