What you need to know
Describe the role of reproductive hormones in driving the development of secondary sex characteristics during puberty.
Explain the function of oestrogen, produced by the ovaries, in the maturation and release of eggs during the menstrual cycle (ovulation).
Describe the role of testosterone, produced by the testes, in stimulating sperm production.
Outline the specific functions of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinising hormone (LH), oestrogen, and progesterone in the menstrual cycle.
