What you need to know
Define distance as a scalar quantity describing how far an object moves, independent of direction.
Define displacement as a vector quantity that represents the straight-line distance and direction from an object's start point to its finish point.
Express displacement accurately in terms of both magnitude and direction.
Use ratios and proportional reasoning to convert units and compute rates related to distance and displacement.
