What you need to know
Describe the proportions of different gases in the Earth's atmosphere, which have remained relatively constant for approximately 200 million years.
Recall that nitrogen constitutes about four-fifths (approximately 80%) of the atmosphere.
Recall that oxygen constitutes about one-fifth (approximately 20%) of the atmosphere.
Identify that there are small proportions of various other gases, including carbon dioxide, water vapour, and noble gases.
